With my credit card details online and my bank details online, it is so easy to check what I owe and pay more than , I really need to if the next bill is building up quickly. I never buy what I can’t afford. But I was afraid to put money matters online. That is one of the good things about lockdown. I felt forced to deal with everything online , but now I am happy that it makes my life easier.

Recently got the Sainsburys nectar credit card. Sainsburys is my primary supermarket and i wanted to get more nectar points and rewards for shopping there. The app is a little basic and seems to often want to take you out of the app and onto the browser which is a bit of a pain and not being connected to apple pay is a little disappointing, however it is easy to pay off the card and easy to track spending. Managed to get my nectar card linked with the credit and just had the 875 points that i had earned in the first month successfully transferred to my nectar card.

Have been a customer for over 40 years and have always found Sainsbury’s great value with competitive prices in store and excellent quality products. Sainsbury’s Bank has always been a helpful tool for managing our finances.

Great credit card with the pending transactions now included. The only thing that lets it down is the non-notifications of spending. The card is used by both my wife & it would be good to see what’s being spent & where in real time, other providers have this function.

Please please I hope this gets to the right people but I want you to find a girl called Donna I think from Sainsbury’s bank I called and was put through to some credit card care team, I was really upset and can honestly say Donna you truly are a beautiful soul! Your sincere way on the whole call was amazing I am sorry I cried all the way through, times are so hard and lonely you was really nice to me will never forget that! I have been asking for the app for my credit card for ages. Thanks a lot. It’s easy and quick to look at your transactions. I would give it 5 stars if I have one that works with Apple wallet/ Apple Pay. It’s highly needed.

Works well and does what I expected. Read the description before you moan about things like apple pay as i’m sure it will be updated over time. For me it does just what I need it for and have no problems as of yet.

Lots of reviews here unfairly marking app down to lack of Apple Pay. This is nothing to do with with this app. Apple Pay/contactless payment would be very welcome though! Always found the old website very cumbersome and not optimised for a mobile device. In fact had phased out this card because of the hassle compared to other credit cards I had New app gives me easy authentication (via Face ID) and instant access. I had no problems with the installation and initial set up. This app might persuade me to start using my Sainsbury’s’s bank credit card again although contactless and Apple Pay is a must for this to happen all the time.

Now that the app has debit card payments functionality Some of the other previous critical reviews are a bit harsh and irrelevant very Speedy performance especially on payments and the journey to aggregator third parties like yolt or moneydashboard is better than some of the big banks. Look forward to next iterations and features. 👍🏻

Appears the bugs have been fixed. I was reading into the old bad reviews and nearly not loaded the app until I read one good review. Bad reviews should be deleted as no longer applicable. Very good app with all the info one needs. Well done Sainsbury’s for a good app.

After the “upgrade” it was terrible, it kept asking me for username and last three digits of phone number but then just directed me to the website login which isn’t the point of an app. So I deleted the app and downloaded again after the same initial questions it then sent a verifying code to my phone which I input and now it looks like an app again with better visibility than before and I can use finger print from now on, don’t know what happened initially seems to happen to quite a few from what I read on here, they need to re download app I would suggest

Now works. Thanks I like this app, especially the new pending transactions functionality. Very useful. Thank you Just downloaded the latest version of the app. Clearly poorly tested. On opening the app you need to reregister your device this involves entering the last three digits of your mobile number. Fine except the ‘Confirm’ link is overlaid by another link to update your mobile number. Result: can’t activate the app and no means to contact support. To the app developers. My device is an iPhone 5s running iOS 12.4.5

Having read the most recent negative reviews I almost didn't download this app but glad I did as it works perfectly & has face recognition so easy to log in! Ps I work for a construction company so not an employee!

So, saw some of the awful reviews and thought... can’t be that bad? And, to my surprise it isn’t bad! The setup process has a slight flaw, when you enter your details you can’t actually see what you are typing (I did the setup from an iPhone 8). But aside from that, took me less than 2 minutes to setup for first time use. Once you are logged in you can do the usual stuff, see your balance, transactions, upcoming and past payments, statements and other products. That’s it, does the job, it’s a banking app.

Before this update, I had all but given up on the app. However, it has finally been updated and is now comparable to Tesco’s! Which has been good from the start. Hoorah!

I was on the Beta app testing group and this end result is a major improvement on the original app. Ignore old ratings as this app does what you need.

Much needed update has arrived and followed feedback from users. Log in time a lot better, transaction split into months as per statement date and finally the ability to view pending transactions (which I believe I was the only one to ask for 👍🏽). Thanks Sainsburys bank 😀

Now a completely new app which requires reinitialisation. It is now of some use. Did SB finally hire some software resources with real qualifications and actual experience of using credit cards? And WHY in the name of tarnation was the previous app allowed to see the light of day? Pointy-haired bosses yelling about deadlines and sunk costs? Reputational damage takes a lot of fixing. Please note. ——————— Previous review: This app can be used to check your credit card balance using TouchID instead of going through the ridiculously unfriendly webpage login. That’s it. Seriously, could *anyone who has ever actually used a credit card* design an app with a filter that gives you transactions for a CALENDAR month instead of a STATEMENT month? (And that’s about the only feature the app has.) My impression is that of a work placement - or more likely nomadic purchased paper qualifications. I have had to fix a lot of this kind of work in my time. Buck up, Sainsburys, and stop buying your IT on price and ticklists alone!

From basic to bang on......is the transformation with the latest upgrade. Sainsbury’s have great financial products that are from a rate perspective best on the market. The app was previously poor but this upgrade makes monitoring your spending where it needs to be. Well done.

The old app was crap, took ages to load and didn’t really tell you much. The new one is more what you’d expect - quick logins, pending transactions and the minimum payment displayed rather than having to check your statements using a computer. Good work 👍

Was very pleased that Sainsbury’s increased my limit with no hassle or fuss , you had the sense to check my credit score and no I have an excellent credit history, and I am not a risk whatsoever , thank you for ur excellent common sense, I’ll wait 6 months to ask for another increase on my credit card , I’m going to close down a few of my other credit cards and concentrate on Sainsbury’s credit card , I feel u treat customers 100 percent better than my other credit card providers . Looking at Reviews, didn’t try before but have just installed after looking at Most Recent Reviews and I can’t understand why so many poor ratings. This does everything I need with my Card and it works fine on my XR. As good as other banking and credit card apps I use on my phone. So just Ignore ratings and just try it!

I owe £1119 on an interest free credit card and wanted to pay it off in full after 2 weeks. I’ve tried paying it multiple times with numerous bank cards and I just get an error message saying “payment failed, please ensure your bank card matches the address”. I’ve lived at my house for 10 years and I’m pretty sure my address is correct.

Payment due date 26th March, paid on the 15th. Now on the 25th March and it’s still saying due by the 26th? I’ve already paid it!!! Have to log onto main site to see the payment. Why not have it say ‘payment received’? Then clear the payment due by date until the next one is produced? Just an idea....

People will use this app purely for convenience, the overall experience is not what you would expect from Sainsbury’s. The app navigation and general usability is mediocre. Slow to update with account transactions (such as payments) lags behind web based online credit card, so information is sometimes out of sync so ultimately makes managing the account difficult. Overall verdict: good attempt but must try harder.

Complete garbage! Since the last app update I’m unable to make debit card payments and each attempt fails. I now have to go through the hassle of logging into the Sainsbury’s Bank website to make payments with my debit card. This app is only good for check the card balance!

The app is very basic but works. Big negative - zero ApplePay support. For those saying it’s nothing to do with the app, yes but this is the only way to complain about it :( Seriously Sainsbury’s - it’s 2021 now - when do you plan to support ApplePay? That seriously detracts from the usefulness of the card in the contactless COVID-19 era!

Never used an app so frustrating in my life, log in is a nightmare, navigating around is absolutely ridiculous. I’ll pay what I owe on the card and close the account. Supposed to make life easier not infuriating.

I am unable to view my savings account on the app. I have several Bank accounts with other Banks, and they all have apps where you can view all your accounts. Unfortunately, due to this, I will be closing my Sainsbury’s accounts as I need app access to all my accounts.

This app allowed me to set up face ID so I could look at it to login to the app, however every time I try to use it it immediately crashes and I have to log in manually to be able to get into my account.Pretty pointless feature of face ID then? Please fix ASAP.

All my other financial apps allow me to view statements through them. Why on earth would Sainsbury’s prefer to make us go through a torturous log on via the web to view, after seemingly hundreds of clicks and passwords, my statement? Come on! Think like an end user please. Just go and try Tesco/Amex/Lloyds etc. They’re all user friendly. This is ok at telling me what my balance is, but if I want to check the individual items (necessary for fraud prevention), this is now an exercise I am not inclined to undertake. ‘Must try harder’.

This is a pretty poor attempt at a banking app. Interface is clunky and a lot of features missing. Face ID just does not work, cannot turn on in settings. The same error message appears. I’m on a brand new iPhone 12 for gods sake.

I've found this app to be awful. I've been logged out and have reset my details so many times but I'm still locked out even though I can log in to my account fine online. I've called 3 times and each time they say it's showing as unblocked so to give it a day for the app to catch up but it never does. Giving up and using online instead.

As a totally Blind user I was looking forward to the app updates in the hope that finally, it would be made totally accessible to voice-over users, but still only the basics can be achieved. You can get the app to read current balance & all the tabs but forget trying to check recent activity or statement transactions. All voice over can read is the date. To view each & every transaction you’ve got to manually tap on every one individually to get more details & then tap on done to go back to the transactions list - FAR TOO LONG & TIME CONSUMING! It works fine for my sighted partner but not totally there yet for the visually impaired. I did try giving feedback via the app but the text field to write comments doesn’t work with voice over. Enough said. Come on Sainsbury’s, get your act together and get this app working for everyone, not just the sighted - please?

As an app I should expect to see my statements in detail. Why go though the trouble of creating an app only to be directed to the normal website (with further authentication) to see a statement. Waste of time. The interface looks like something from the 1990s, this is just a pitiful excuse for an ‘app’.

Appalling. Won’t even let you pay using it half the time. Can’t block cards or use it for anything else. Avoid this bank generally as they have been rubbish to use all the way through. I am switching.

Surprised that there is no functionality to temporarily block the card / turn off the magnetic strip / link the card to where my phone is / disable online purchases etc as there is with others? Have I missed something?

Downloaded, entered credentials, selected to enable Face ID but got repeated error messages. Logged in using passcode, then tried to enable within the app, still got error message. Try testing thing before you launch! Assume it’ll be another 10 years before you add Apple Pay?

With contactless limited to £45, I find Apple Pay reduces hassle, so naively expected a Sainsburys product to support up to date payment methods, so now unlikely to use my new credit card often!

I was given the impression that linking my Nectar Card to my Sainsbury’s Credit Card would automatically give me the Nectar points without having to scan both cards. However, this is not case and points are lost if the Nectar Card is not scanned at the same time. I do not understand why we need to link the two cards if the whole system is flawed.

To make a payment it takes you to their online banking site which defeats the purpose of the app. It also doesn’t update after you make a payment acting as if you still need to make the minimum payment.

Old fashioned app and feels very dated compared to most. Now cancelled my credit card with them as not only do they not have Apple Pay in 2020 which quite ridiculous but also they have no idea when/if it’s coming, so I went elsewhere and everything is now appropriate for 2020 living.

This app is vary good forChecking to see if you have enough money to make a payment for something in a shop but if you want to make a minimum payment e.g. £10 do not bother I’m going to the website insteadAlso when making a payment you can’t have to go converted to the main website

Ok and fine to set up. Ok and fine information. BUT really bad set up if one needs to look at a full statement. Why? Because one has to put in all security information AND one is then sent a new passcode ... which comes via the mobile phone . So when one goes to copy it . ... and paste ... not possible. Started again and tried 3 tones. Bad news as I only eat to see the statement. Also can’t change direct debt information from minimum payment to set amount. Sorry not good at all.

Updated version - really, this is an update - it’s still absolutely s@@t in comparison to what I’d expect of the most basic of credit card apps....Argos Card are part of the Group, have them build it for you, I love their app..... It’s a good(ish) start but against the apps I have for the other cards in my wallet, you needn’t have bothered. I can see transactions and that’s it - no telling me when my payment is due or even what that payment is - off to the website for that. I get an email telling me I have a statement, need the website for that, nothing in the app. Ah, I’ll make a payment...nope, can’t do that either...seriously Sainsbury’s, you’re a big business and you launch this? Even if you let me authenticate in the app and then bypass security when I link to the website...ah, no, got to re-enter everything. Poor!

So it’s ok to have visibility of your balance but when you want to make a payment you have to leave the app, log in with your details again online and then make the payment. Why not give us the facility to pay through the app like all my other cards have done

This is obviously one of those “Dreckly” / “Manana” statements as the last update was seven months ago. Still it works - just. It is very slow and the information it displays is limited. Come on Sainsbury catch up with the big boys. Still waiting. If I need to view a statement I get transferred to their website and have to go through a painful login. Time for Sainsbury’s Bank to climb out of the Stone Age.

This puts me off having their credit card as it’s so difficult to use. I tried to send feedback via the tab in the app. This is not counted as activity so the security system times you out and you have to log in all over again, which in itself is a dreary process. You need to type: the last three digits of you phone number twice! Password, username and 3 digits of you 6 digit pin. Better banking apps have much slicker security. When you are eventually in, you can’t just read say a months transactions. You need to view each monthly statement and it’s no obvious how to go back. Awful ap, best advice bank with someone else!

...Deleted the app, restarted my phone, reinstalled and logged back in on my iPhone 11 with the latest IOS. So no excuses really. It just crashes everytime I try to login. If they really don’t want to put in the effort just build the open banking API like some of other credit cards have done so we can at least connect it to Yolt or Emma and keep an eye on our transactions this way instead. I have the latest IOS and an iPhone 11 so no excuses really. 4 a credit card 2 to be this bad it’s worrying really, our money is important and if there is 1 category of apps u want 2 have confidence in, it’s banking apps. do they spend all their money on their supermarkets and just throw in a 16 year old coding apprentice 2 build their app to save a bit of money? Plan 2 balance transfer my money away from them now and use a different company manage my debt.

I owe £1119 on an interest free credit card and wanted to pay it off in full after 2 weeks. I’ve tried paying it multiple times with numerous bank cards and I just get an error message saying “payment failed, please ensure your bank card matches the address”. I’ve lived at my house for 10 years and I’m pretty sure my address is correct.

Payment due date 26th March, paid on the 15th. Now on the 25th March and it’s still saying due by the 26th? I’ve already paid it!!! Have to log onto main site to see the payment. Why not have it say ‘payment received’? Then clear the payment due by date until the next one is produced? Just an idea....

People will use this app purely for convenience, the overall experience is not what you would expect from Sainsbury’s. The app navigation and general usability is mediocre. Slow to update with account transactions (such as payments) lags behind web based online credit card, so information is sometimes out of sync so ultimately makes managing the account difficult. Overall verdict: good attempt but must try harder.

Complete garbage! Since the last app update I’m unable to make debit card payments and each attempt fails. I now have to go through the hassle of logging into the Sainsbury’s Bank website to make payments with my debit card. This app is only good for check the card balance!

The app is very basic but works. Big negative - zero ApplePay support. For those saying it’s nothing to do with the app, yes but this is the only way to complain about it :( Seriously Sainsbury’s - it’s 2021 now - when do you plan to support ApplePay? That seriously detracts from the usefulness of the card in the contactless COVID-19 era!

I am unable to view my savings account on the app. I have several Bank accounts with other Banks, and they all have apps where you can view all your accounts. Unfortunately, due to this, I will be closing my Sainsbury’s accounts as I need app access to all my accounts.

This app allowed me to set up face ID so I could look at it to login to the app, however every time I try to use it it immediately crashes and I have to log in manually to be able to get into my account.Pretty pointless feature of face ID then? Please fix ASAP.

All my other financial apps allow me to view statements through them. Why on earth would Sainsbury’s prefer to make us go through a torturous log on via the web to view, after seemingly hundreds of clicks and passwords, my statement? Come on! Think like an end user please. Just go and try Tesco/Amex/Lloyds etc. They’re all user friendly. This is ok at telling me what my balance is, but if I want to check the individual items (necessary for fraud prevention), this is now an exercise I am not inclined to undertake. ‘Must try harder’.

This is a pretty poor attempt at a banking app. Interface is clunky and a lot of features missing. Face ID just does not work, cannot turn on in settings. The same error message appears. I’m on a brand new iPhone 12 for gods sake.

I've found this app to be awful. I've been logged out and have reset my details so many times but I'm still locked out even though I can log in to my account fine online. I've called 3 times and each time they say it's showing as unblocked so to give it a day for the app to catch up but it never does. Giving up and using online instead.

As a totally Blind user I was looking forward to the app updates in the hope that finally, it would be made totally accessible to voice-over users, but still only the basics can be achieved. You can get the app to read current balance & all the tabs but forget trying to check recent activity or statement transactions. All voice over can read is the date. To view each & every transaction you’ve got to manually tap on every one individually to get more details & then tap on done to go back to the transactions list - FAR TOO LONG & TIME CONSUMING! It works fine for my sighted partner but not totally there yet for the visually impaired. I did try giving feedback via the app but the text field to write comments doesn’t work with voice over. Enough said. Come on Sainsbury’s, get your act together and get this app working for everyone, not just the sighted - please?

As an app I should expect to see my statements in detail. Why go though the trouble of creating an app only to be directed to the normal website (with further authentication) to see a statement. Waste of time. The interface looks like something from the 1990s, this is just a pitiful excuse for an ‘app’.
