I came here to review just because I appreciated the non-invasiveness of their rating prompt so much. The app asked me if I enjoy it and when I answered “yes” it just thanked me and didn’t ask me to rate. My only gripe is that Betterment doesn’t seem to open correctly - I want to put in my investment options but it doesn’t want to link correctly. Otherwise this app suits my HSA needs.

I’d like to see a list instead of a pie chart for analyzing performance. The pie chart is incredibly inefficient and requires too many clicks to display data. Color coding is efficient. The main dashboard total for Stocks usually does not match the investments dashboard. Please make them the same calculation.

I have an HSA with Optum that has been in effect since 2008. I opened an MSA account this year. I have been told that my HSA has been converted to an MSA. How did they do that?? There are different rules for these two types of accounts. I am unable to view or access my HSA on the website and can only see and access the MSA. Some serious work needs to be done to their website and internal procedures if they are going to offer both products to the public.

Holding my money hostage! My company switched to Optum for HSA this year, and already am disgusted. Yet another bank forcing updates and blocking access to your funds until you do! Fail!!!

I feel like I’m using a 1980s app that integrates with 5 different data sets and loads everything on a unique basis. There is no useful left hand navigation menu and hard to access investment performance. With the prevalence of HSA would think UHC would invest more in this tech. Do not recommend!

The app created major headaches for me that am almost 9 months on and yet to resolve Apparently if you issue payment through the app it facilitates by check. Oh, you selected a dependent for who the payment was for? Yeah, we don’t put that name on the check we put the main account holder. Oh, you put the account number for the patient? Yeah, sometimes we don’t register that you put that in and just send the check with the main account holder name only. Oh, so there was an issue with your payment(s) getting allocated to the wrong account? Yeah, because it is done with a check we can recall a refund like we could have for a debit card transaction. Ultimately the lesson learned for me is to use the app to check account balances and that is it. Use your debit card to pay your bill.

This is not a modern banking mobile application application! I have made three deposits across two days and the application still does not reflect even a pending or inflight deposit. Additionally it took over 24 hours to receive a confirmation email for my deposits. What’s up OptumBank? Come into the modern area. I am only using you because my company has chosen you. This is my only financial app that does not properly track money! Proceed with caution folks.

The Optum app has by far, been the worst mobile app that requires a username and password log-in I've ever used. I use two mobile devices, Android and iPhone and the app constantly, over a 2 year span, forgets my password. As in, after I've created numerous passwords and saved them for future reference can never remember my password. The app always states the username and/or password does not match. This has been and continues to be one of the most annoying and frustrating apps I've ever used. What can you do to fix this going forward, Optum?

I frequently have so many problems trying to sign in. I just tried again and while my username, password, and security code are all right, now the finger scanner keeps crashing. I find it hard to believe that this app works for anyone else. I always end up having to log-on with my computer using the exact same info I used on this app, but actually getting thru on my laptop.🤯📵

My review is entirely based on the fact that this app is reading clipboard information it has no need for at every app open. If they fix this I will be able to change my rating. The app is okay but I have many concerns about why it’s copying and pasting from the clipboard for no reason.

I love the game I play with Optum’s platforms in which I constantly get logged out and told my password is wrong when I try to log back in. Checking my balance becomes a study of madness as I enter the correct password over and over until I get my account locked. Again. And then have to change my password. Again. I hate your system.

This app used to be awesome. For some reason it stopped recognizing my thumb print, and it doesn’t remember the ID & Password I type in. I basically have to create a new one every time I log on. I’ve tried uninstalling & reinstalling the app but that doesn’t work. What happened Optum? Customer service has no solution for this problem.

Can’t imagine what convoluted back end work they are trying to make happen but the login delays and insanely long pauses when trying to make any investment actions are awful. Truly should be embarrassing.

It’s always been a pain to make a payment, but they recently did an update and it’s even worse. Recommendation to Optum app developers... create a way for users to click “make a payment” when under the saved payee. With the new update, even when I click on pay an expense then select the payee/acct number it asks me to re-enter everything! Easier to go on the provider website. Shouldn’t be this hard to create a useable app for a bank this size.

Whomever usability tested this app should be fired. I’m surprised that a company like UHG would allow this to hit the App Store with all the bugs. My biggest aggravation is having to enter my username and password every time the app updates (which seems like it’s often).

For the majority of the year I used this app with no issue. It was a little difficult to understand but a big part of that was I had never had an FSA before and didn’t know what I was doing. I think it was September 2020 it started asking for my password every time, my fingerprint would no longer work. The last few weeks (now into November) I cannot even log in. It freezes and closes and will not progress. I can log into the website with no problem. Hopefully they can fix this as it was super helpful before.

Curiously, every time I open this app, it pastes whatever is currently held in my Clipboard contents. If you are using the newer versions of iOS, you will receive an alert about this snooping activity. I can’t see any legitimate reason or useful feature that would need this, thus I think it needs to be called out as an intrusive invasion of privacy. Please remedy.

Feature parity between web and this app is poor. Also they are copying the clipboard on app start... thanks to ios14 we can see that. Just use your web broswer.

The app is fine once you get into it. Several times over the last year I’ve had to relog in with the user name and password because the touch login would not allow me to. No other banking app I have requires this. It must be a security feature and is a pain in the hindquarters for the user.

App crashes multiple times when you add a payee. Finally get payee added, and go to pay a bill. Camera won’t scan receipt - repeatedly captures half of bill even though green target covers whole normal sized bill. After 6 tries finally capture bill. Go to next screen, and of course app crashes. Restart, go to pay a bill, and of course payee is no longer stored. Could go back to step 1, but what’s the point? This app is useless and hopelessly broken.

Face ID does not work for this app. It did at one point but not now . I checked the settings of the app and it’s set for Face ID . I even check the app to remember me at username and password screen and it does not remember me if I don’t go into the app for a few days .

So incredibly frustrating that I type in my credentials AFTER using Face ID. Click on Remember me. That doesn’t work. Go to settings to try to save the option to logon with Face ID/ fingerprint. It’s gone. Several times I have used the correct credentials that worked the day before then breaks only to find out waiting for a couple days the same credentials work. No idea how you can have such a poor user experience that seems to be trying to keep me from logging in at multiple attempts. Terrible. Just terrible. You have to try to be this bad. Can’t be an accident.

Can’t use touch ID to login anymore. It forces you to use login name and password. Moreover clicking on the new Account Snapshot feature crashes the app. Please fix.

I am pretty sure that I have typed in correct username and password. It couldn’t be wrong because I turned on the Face ID. However, about every month, when I try to log in, the app tells me that the username and password doesn’t match. As a result, I have to reset the password, which is very annoying! Has anyone ever had the same issue with me?

The UI is clumsy, the app is slow and clearly is just a façade for the website rather than a full-featured app, and now with the latest update I can no longer view my HSA investments. I’d say this looks like it was designed by high schoolers, but that would be an insult to high schoolers. Every other banking app I use is better than this, and if my HSA was elsewhere I’d happily delete this app and never download it again.

They change the password system to health check. Locking me out from the app and then make me re register by responding to emails and and answering endless security questions. Tells me I am done and sign. I sign in then now for more security I have to enter the account number. I can’t acces the account number because u changed the sign. Now I have to call. What a joke

Worse bank ever when it comes to using your funds for health related expenses. I did not have a choice on this bank because my employer selected it. You can’t use your debit card at supermarkets or target to pay for prescriptions. Transactions get denied even paying medical debt at hospitals and insurance companies website.

Optum Bank website is very simply laid out. If you need to submit a receipt, it indicates it for you so you can’t miss. The app is more of a general overview of your account with limited functionality. You can upload receipts but there is no place to show you what needs to be uploaded, so you are uploading blindly and just hoping you will hit the right one that they are requesting.

Uploading and tracking receipts is not intuitive or simple at all. The flow is frustrating, the language is confusing, and I often get error messages just trying to load receipts. I also have claims rejected for very simple and straight forward submissions like a copay. The messages I receive in the app version are not consistent with the mail notices, and it’s unclear why the desktop version of my account isn’t consistent either. Overall, I don’t enjoy Optum as a service and it’s technology is frustrating

Coming from Health Equity this app is way behind in advancement. Glitchy and never seems to update. I’ve had the same “needs your attn” receipt request for months on this app that never go away. The only thing it seems to be good for is checking balances. I called in to customer service and the experience was even worse. Was told all the receipts were cleared and there were three more added I can t even see on the computer or app! Was told they would email their team for a fix and it never happened. Uploading is a nightmare on the app and on the computer. On the app no PDFs allowed just pictures from camera roll or live. On the computer PDFs do not upload correctly. Like others have said the receipt file get overloaded and nothing gets done correctly. Please fix these issues. I hope my employer reconsiders Optum in the future.

The iPhone version of this is pretty good, which is why I give it 2 stars instead of 1, and currently the only way I can actually access my UHC HSA account. The iPad version doesn’t work because the Captcha doesn’t show and so login fails. The web access to Optum Banlk also hasn’t been working. I tried with FireFox, Chrome, Safari and Opera and kept getting the same message of “temporarily unavailable” for seven days in a row. Optum tech support apparently is baffled because they haven’t gotten back to me with a solution. I haven’t tried transferring money yet. Given some of the feedback I’m reading, I’m nervous. Kinda useless to have an account you can’t access or use properly.

Seems to be a good and comprehensive app for on the go and easy use... the caveat... in 15 minutes of my first use the app froze and/or crashed at least 5 times... fix stuff like this and you will likely have a winning productive application!

This is a terrible app! It’s so difficult to use for anything except checking your balance - it seems like Optum really doesn’t want you doing anything but giving them money. Of all my banking apps, this is clearly the worst. I only have it because my employer insists on using them exclusively for my HSA.

I have downloaded the app and have three optum accounts. This app will not let me download receipts it will not allow me to add my bank information to receive direct deposit for reimbursements. Literally all I can do is look at how much money I have in each account.. I can just as easily call and find out with all the hassle this app is causing. Can you do something about this.. I want the app to make life easier

This app is absolutely horrible!! Optum Bank is conveniently asking for a March 2019 receipt almost a year later. But, go figure, the optum bank app that encouraged receipt upload will no longer show any of my receipts. The app just spins and looks like it is loading and nothing ever happens! So, now I’m going to have to call my medical provider to ask for another copy of the receipt that is already saved on the optum bank app. This issue needs to be fixed or you need to update the app to communicate with the website so we can view our receipts on the website. Also, why can’t you submit a receipt request on the app? It doesn’t make any sense to have an option to save your receipts to the app but then when optum bank asks for a receipt you can only submit this on the website. If the app allows you to save receipts then there should be the option to upload that receipt to optum bank in the app when requested. Instead we have to take a screen shot of the receipt from the app (assuming it ever loads-see complaint above), then email the receipt to myself to save to my computer to upload to the optum bank website.

I am unable to see contributions and also when I log out, it keeps taking my face id and logs me back in. Seems like there is a bug here. Needs to be fixed.

I feel like I’m using a 1980s app that integrates with 5 different data sets and loads everything on a unique basis. There is no useful left hand navigation menu and hard to access investment performance. With the prevalence of HSA would think UHC would invest more in this tech. Do not recommend!

The app created major headaches for me that am almost 9 months on and yet to resolve Apparently if you issue payment through the app it facilitates by check. Oh, you selected a dependent for who the payment was for? Yeah, we don’t put that name on the check we put the main account holder. Oh, you put the account number for the patient? Yeah, sometimes we don’t register that you put that in and just send the check with the main account holder name only. Oh, so there was an issue with your payment(s) getting allocated to the wrong account? Yeah, because it is done with a check we can recall a refund like we could have for a debit card transaction. Ultimately the lesson learned for me is to use the app to check account balances and that is it. Use your debit card to pay your bill.

This is not a modern banking mobile application application! I have made three deposits across two days and the application still does not reflect even a pending or inflight deposit. Additionally it took over 24 hours to receive a confirmation email for my deposits. What’s up OptumBank? Come into the modern area. I am only using you because my company has chosen you. This is my only financial app that does not properly track money! Proceed with caution folks.

The Optum app has by far, been the worst mobile app that requires a username and password log-in I've ever used. I use two mobile devices, Android and iPhone and the app constantly, over a 2 year span, forgets my password. As in, after I've created numerous passwords and saved them for future reference can never remember my password. The app always states the username and/or password does not match. This has been and continues to be one of the most annoying and frustrating apps I've ever used. What can you do to fix this going forward, Optum?

I frequently have so many problems trying to sign in. I just tried again and while my username, password, and security code are all right, now the finger scanner keeps crashing. I find it hard to believe that this app works for anyone else. I always end up having to log-on with my computer using the exact same info I used on this app, but actually getting thru on my laptop.🤯📵

My review is entirely based on the fact that this app is reading clipboard information it has no need for at every app open. If they fix this I will be able to change my rating. The app is okay but I have many concerns about why it’s copying and pasting from the clipboard for no reason.

I love the game I play with Optum’s platforms in which I constantly get logged out and told my password is wrong when I try to log back in. Checking my balance becomes a study of madness as I enter the correct password over and over until I get my account locked. Again. And then have to change my password. Again. I hate your system.

This app used to be awesome. For some reason it stopped recognizing my thumb print, and it doesn’t remember the ID & Password I type in. I basically have to create a new one every time I log on. I’ve tried uninstalling & reinstalling the app but that doesn’t work. What happened Optum? Customer service has no solution for this problem.

It’s always been a pain to make a payment, but they recently did an update and it’s even worse. Recommendation to Optum app developers... create a way for users to click “make a payment” when under the saved payee. With the new update, even when I click on pay an expense then select the payee/acct number it asks me to re-enter everything! Easier to go on the provider website. Shouldn’t be this hard to create a useable app for a bank this size.

Whomever usability tested this app should be fired. I’m surprised that a company like UHG would allow this to hit the App Store with all the bugs. My biggest aggravation is having to enter my username and password every time the app updates (which seems like it’s often).

For the majority of the year I used this app with no issue. It was a little difficult to understand but a big part of that was I had never had an FSA before and didn’t know what I was doing. I think it was September 2020 it started asking for my password every time, my fingerprint would no longer work. The last few weeks (now into November) I cannot even log in. It freezes and closes and will not progress. I can log into the website with no problem. Hopefully they can fix this as it was super helpful before.

Curiously, every time I open this app, it pastes whatever is currently held in my Clipboard contents. If you are using the newer versions of iOS, you will receive an alert about this snooping activity. I can’t see any legitimate reason or useful feature that would need this, thus I think it needs to be called out as an intrusive invasion of privacy. Please remedy.

The app is fine once you get into it. Several times over the last year I’ve had to relog in with the user name and password because the touch login would not allow me to. No other banking app I have requires this. It must be a security feature and is a pain in the hindquarters for the user.

I am unable to see contributions and also when I log out, it keeps taking my face id and logs me back in. Seems like there is a bug here. Needs to be fixed.
